Landscape Observation Tower
Landscape Observation Tower
Felloni Lateral Office STP Srl is designing a low-impact observation tower in the Po Delta, organized in half levels to optimize viewing without altering the ecosystem.

The tower is located in the humid landscape of Vallesanta, in Argenta, Italy, within the area managed by the Po Delta Parks and Biodiversity Management Authority. Standing eleven meters tall, the structure is conceived as a minimal infrastructure capable of integrating into the natural environment without competing with it.

The project adopts a multi-level organization connected by staircases and small platforms. Through strategically placed openings, the structure offers controlled views of the landscape and optimizes the birdwatching experience, while simultaneously minimizing visual interference with the ecosystem.

The construction is done in glued laminated timber (glulam) and solid larch wood, with a metal joint system that guarantees stability and durability. The exterior cladding, composed of wooden slats of varying density, promotes natural ventilation and establishes a formal and chromatic continuity with the surroundings.

At the entrance, an information panel on wood guides cyclists and visitors exploring the park. The shaded ground floor, equipped with seating, functions as an extension of the building: a space for pause and contemplation that integrates the project into the existing network of paths.

The tower functions as a landscape feature rather than an isolated object. Its discreet presence and materiality allow the architecture to complement the experience of the surrounding area, contributing to the appreciation of the ecosystem as a built extension of nature.
