179 Tweewaters
XDGA is planning a residential complex consisting of a tower and a bar on the former industrial site of Tweewaters, in Leuven, Belgium.

Located in a park that once housed a major brewery, 179 Tweewaters is organized around two main volumes: a tower and a bar. The project is part of the area's urban redevelopment, consolidating a new residential fabric in harmony with the landscape.

The tower rises twenty stories to a height of seventy meters, with nine thousand square meters of residential space. Its volume is composed of juxtaposed and offset prisms that intensify the perception of mass and create multiple orientations and open views of the surrounding area. The mostly transparent facades reinforce this visual connection, while the south facade incorporates loggias that provide outdoor spaces for each unit.

The verticality of the whole is emphasized through the rhythm of the aluminum panels and profiles, which accompany the stepped composition of the volume and underline its status as a landmark within the new urban development.

In contrast, the bar extends for one hundred and forty meters and reaches six levels in height, with nineteen thousand square meters that combine housing and commercial space. Conceived as a horizontal structure in direct contact with the garden, its volume is fragmented at each level, generating terraces and setbacks that break down the scale.

The ground floor houses the lobby providing access to the apartments, along with spaces for activities and common areas that open onto the park. The relationship between the tower and the bar establishes a balance between verticality and horizontality, creating a complex that articulates density, landscape, and collective life within the context of the contemporary city.
